Sony Reader Hands-On

Sony Reader Hands-On: "We first heard word of the Sony Reader back in January when it made its triumphant debut at CES 2006. Patrick Norton at PC Mag recently gave the Sony Reader a nice little hands-on. Like most of the other pre-reviews we have seen, people are wowed by how nice the e-ink looks and how easy the text is to read. Picture display isn't the best quality, but why should it be? This is an e-book reader, not a picture viewer. Norton also says that the controls have an intuitive design that takes some getting used to, but all-in-all, the Sony Reader would be an excellent edition to any bookworm's collection. It will go for $300 to $400 and be available soon—hopefully. Hit the linkage for Norton's video review. – Travis Hudson

Computer Desk-Bed

Computer Desk-Bed: "For city dwellers tight on space and students in dorms, the Computer Bed combines a computer desk with a bed. A stylish wooden desk by that folds down to reveal a hidden twin sized bed.

Although the bed is useful and practical, it doesn't look very sturdy. Even with the new 'metal bed frame' and 'wooden slate foundation', a well-fed fellow would probably be too much for the joints and come collapsing down all his equipment.

Available now for $2079.

Back to the Future DeLorean Flux Capacitor on eBay

Back to the Future DeLorean Flux Capacitor on eBay:
If you've got a DeLorean and a few extra hundred bucks lying around, get your bad self over to eBay and bid on this gorgeous flux capacitor. The seller/builder used real glass tubes, accurate to the one that appeared in Back to the Future and long out of production (i.e. rare), and the gold bases were machined out of aluminum to match the movie prop. It plugs into any car battery and is guaranteed to fit into a DeLorean. Oh, and there are no nasty strobe lights in this baby, only white LEDs that chase to the center.

The highest bid out of 46 so far is $450.00, with two days and twelve hours to go. If you're broke or just cheap, you can always just make your own, but we doubt it'll be this pretty.

Video Spy Glasses, a Surefire Way To Make New Friends: "Listen up, Richard Nixon wannabes. Now you're able to record everything that you see with these incredibly inconspicuous video spy glasses. Paranoia comes at a price, however, and these glasses run at about $600. They also come with a one year warranty, just in case your sneaking missions go awry.

Sunglasses That Let You Look Behind You

Sunglasses That Let You Look Behind You: "Spring has sprung and summer is right around the corner. Of course, this means the lovely ladies out there are wearing delightfully attractive outfits. What better to sneak peaks at the beach than with a pair of sunglasses that also function as rear view mirrors? Granted, you'll be deemed a total creep by society, by when has that stopped you before? These rear view mirror sunglasses have a special coating on the inside of the lenses, letting you look behind you if you look to the side. Be warned, however, because they don't offer UV protection, so no staring into the sun.

Kaya Optics Makes Your Camera See Through Clothes

Kaya Optics Makes Your Camera See Through Clothes: "Infrared filters like the Kaya Optics PF4 were available accidentally on Sony cameras some years ago, before being quickly taken off the market. Since then, voyeurs have developed an extensive after-market and DIY system for these types of filters that can 'see' through clothes. Kaya's new filter allows you plug and play functionality into your existing recorders that use CCD (Charged Coupled Device).

The PF4 is probably either going to be banned pretty soon, or have strict restrictions placed on where and when you can use them. Until then, we look forward to seeing more mannequin nipples.

AK Rocker 200 Gaming Chair

AK Rocker 200 Gaming Chair: "

We love playing video games either from the bed or the sofa, so we probably won't ever buy a gaming chair, but if you're looking for a new one, why not consider the AK Rocker 200, with its Formula 1 styling and ergonomic bucket seat?

If it had a table attachment maybe we'd get it to sit and work in while we're parked in front of the TV, cause laptops and tray tables make us sad. $79.99 at Best Buy, available now.

USB Air Purifier and Ionizer

USB Air Purifier and Ionizer: "If your coworker in the next cube has an odor somewhere between a puddle of urine in the subway and the Antichrist, click on the link as fast as humanly possible. This USB powered air purifier provides a breath soothing freshness that's so desperately missing from corporate America today. At a price of $20, it's money well spent to avoid a day in sensitivity training after you bludgeon Steve over the head with his own keyboard.

Solar-Powered Implant: Cure for Blindness?

Solar-Powered Implant: Cure for Blindness?: "Combining hardware with human bodies gains even more traction with these solar-powered retinal implants that spray a neurotransmitter substance onto retinal cells, restoring sight to the blind. There are no batteries required, either, because the whole thing is solar powered.

The tiny 1.5mm chip flexes in response to low intensity light, stimulating nerves that send visual info on to the brain. The actuator has now been built by engineer Laxman Saggere of the University of Illinois at Chicago; no word on when we'll see this technology implemented in the real world.

Perific Ergonomic Mouse Keeps Hands From Breaking

Perific Ergonomic Mouse Keeps Hands From Breaking: "Remember the days of the square-shaped mouse with only two rectangular buttons, with not a mouse wheel in sight? Those things were pretty torturous to use for any extended period of time, mainly because of their unforgiving design.

Perific hopes to eliminate that problem with a new wireless mouse/trackball that forgoes feature bloat in favor of giving your hands a comfortable user experience. The Perific Ergonomic Mouse & Trackball secret to success is that it can be used in a whole bunch of manners, ensuring that your hand isn't making the same gestures and movements over and over again. Remove its shell and it becomes a normal mouse, but movement is done via the trackball and you can hold it in a variety of different positions.

Further making it easier on your hands, there's two sets of buttons on either side of the mouse, so you can use it in either mode (with or without shell). The mouse designed to keep your hands free from crippling pain costs $119.
